The media had a “hands-off” code with regard to Ms. Clinton. She is hardly a saint and yes some photos of drunken Chelsea did find their way onto the internet. Don’t kid yourself regarding the supposed “virtue” of Chelsea. You would do well to remember she comes from a mother who is in full support of “choice” and if Chelsea were to have been “knocked-up” (as you so colorfully put it), she would have quietly (again the media would stay silent) had it “taken care of”. Do you really believe that Chelsea, daughter of free-lover Billy Bob and a lib Mom like Hillary abstained from having sex during her teen years? Really?
Please. How many times has Chelsea Clinton posed for a paid 10-page layout in a tabloid glossy? How many times has she appeared on Oprah, or The View or Entertainment Tonight?
Whatever the circumstances of Bristol's celebrity are, she is more than a little responsible for it herself. The "media made me do it" meme wears more than a little thin.
I'll reassert my original thesis, whatever the failings of the Clintons are - and they are innumerable - Chelsea turned out to be an incredibly impressive young woman.
