"two-minute warning"

This is one of the silliest phrases in sports. The teams and coaches aren't being "warned" about anything - they can all see the clock.

George Carlin should have used this in his baseball versus football routine, in which baseball is portrayed as pastoral and football as militaristic: "Baseball has the 'seventh-inning stretch'; football has the 'two-minute warning'."

They should call it something like "the two-minute timeout" or "the two-minute break".
