You can add another Republican name to the growing list of those who want to either slash or completely cut out government funding for National Public Radio. The Friday edition of the Daily Caller says Doug Lamborn has introduced two bills into the House that would completely eliminate NPR funding. H.R. 68 calls for the end of all funding to NPR's parent, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, while H.R. 69 would eliminate any government funding for NPR only, by 2013. Lamborn says "NPR claims that less than 2 percent of its total annual budget comes from the federal government. But when the indirect revenues NPR receives in licensing fees from the federally-funded local stations are included, that number jumps to an estimated 20 percent." In December, Radio-Info reported that Lamborn threatened an audit of NPR following the firing of commentator Juan Williams over alleged anti-Muslim comments.

Cutting National Public Radio is a Great Idea that I support,But why don’t they go a little further and kill funding to Public Television.During it’s early days they had great proggraming and I’m sure they could survive on their own without sponging off of the Taxpayers.

Good to see that my congressman is getting noticed - and for the right reasons. Keep it up Congressman Lamborn.

Every federal appropriation must be ranked in importance and scored on this question: is this line item so important that we must borrow money from China to pay for it?

The second question is: is this line item so important that we must be willing to send armed IRS agents to enforce the taxes to pay for it? (this is the raw truth of government)

In the case of NPR, No, and *$%#! no.

Doug is my rep also and he is doing a great job. Cannot say the same about our Colorado Senators though.

The Congressman had best have some security posted. Nina Totenberg and Mara Liasson are on their way to his office now to give him a kick in the shins.

;^)

Our senators are hopeless. And we have sock puppet Bennet for another 6 years. I believe Udall is up again in 2012 so maybe we can give him an early retirement.
