I've watched him for the past few years here in KC and he's remained a class act. Sorry to see him go but I have nothing but respect for the way he chose to leave.

Yep, I remember Meche from his good years with the Mariners. When I first heard this story, I hadn't caught the name of the pitcher. I thought a bit, and realized that I knew it wasn't Eric Bedard.

I believe that Bobby Orr did something similar. He was finally let go from Boston and Chicago decided to give him a chance. But, his injuries prevented him from playing and he gave back the money they had payed him.
