Wasn't the 1970s the best decade for popular music ever?

Today is actually a much better time for music, but It is incumbent on the listener to search the Internet to find artists they like - radio as a portal to new music is dead. Indeed, Internet sites, notably Youtube offer the listener a variety of choices that was unbelievable just a few years ago. On Youtube, I've heard songs that I haven't heard since Eisenhower was in the White House and have found recordings that I've been seeking for years.

I checked, and indeed, there is. In fact, I once drove through it.I lived very near the "east side". Used to go there to visit girlfriends and hang out.
Ed Vrdolyak was the 10th Ward Alderman. Actually began his career as an ambulance chaser. Used to be kind of a nice area but now I don't know.

I would add Styx to the list.
Also, Billy Joel, Gordon Lightfoot, too.

Rod Stewart has an every-man's voice.I like him...but he sounds hoarse. He never would have made it in the '50's when singers had to sing.

I am listening to Xavier Cugat as I post.Is Carmen Miranda up next? I think that's the name of the woman who sang with a fruit bowl on her head. LOL!

"Having My Baby"
"Billy Don't Be A Hero"
Anything by Air Supply
Anything disco {retch!}
I like the 80s punk and new wave sounds better. My iPod is loaded with 80s music.

I think Rod Stewart's a real singer. Funny, I just bought EVERYONE PICTURE TELLS A STORY (on CD), having had a craving for "Mandolin Wind." I liked the early Stewart, who wasn't yet campy. Same with Elton John.
Lately, in fact, I had a craving for the early 70s music. There was more soul & integrity back then. The later 70s sank into mediocrity, for the most part. But the early decade was great.
