This woman was a professional singer of long standing. It’s amazing that you think a teenager flubbing the words and butchering the “melody” like that fool did is comparable.
Thirty-eight years on the post office, eh? That gave you enough time for, what, 18 months in the Army?

Considerably longer than that ~ you gotta' remember, military time counts toward retirement.

Still, you were the guy going to toss your young grand daughter to a screaming mob of critics ~

Sounded more like one of those Middle Eastern Honor Killings.

Please don’t call me a racist, but when did it become obligatory at large spectator events for the national anthem to be sung exclusively by black women?

<><><><><<>

LOL. Racist? Are you calling Christina Aguillera a black woman?

That is hilarious.

It was embarrassing. Even the UK ex-pats in the bar I was at knew she messed up. That was funny.

I think that was political. She is a big supporter of the illegals and them being here. It was a slap in the face of America and done on purpose.

She joins a long line of flubbers of the National Anthem.

my granddaughter, a high school sophomore, has performed the National Anthem, solo, a capella, at several Mizzou sporting events ... never botched the words

Brava for her. There's no excuse to mess it up. Only Divas who refuse to rehearse anymore screw it up.

She butchered it because she doesn't have the voice to sing it correctly. This is why she, and others, 'embellish' it - they're merely masking their voice's limitations.
Josh Groban would sing it perfectly. I've heard Martina McBride sing it and she does very well. Then again, those two would sound wonderful singing in their back yards. The girl, Aguilara (spelling?) would cause the neighborhood cats to screech and run away.

Why would you have her sing "the Mexican" anything? Really, we need your explanation for that.

I will now continue to scroll down and hopefully read Elizabeth's response.

Mean one that I am, I hope she carries this with her for a loooooong time. If she was not concentrating on ‘HER’ rendition, rather than the Anthem itself, it might not have happened.

I just hope that the powers who select these ?singers? have learned a lesson. Forget the pop stuff and give us a Marine Band. Bet the applause would be the greatest ever.

To 98 - RE: Post #18. I thought it was funny. And I like Mexicans. Well, I more like the senoritas.
Matter o'fact I'll be in Texas for Cinco de Mayo only because there is a sizable Spanish speaking populace there.
I was thinking of going to Mexico but a fellow I work with, who was born and raised there, advised me not to.

Couldn’t agree more. Her choice for the anthem...along with the choice of the BEP’s for that abomination of a half-time show...is merely a reflection of a bunch of rich white guys who run the NFL trying to make the league seem more gee-golly-hip-’n’-s**t, donchaknow.

Makes me sick.
