In a concession to the GLBT community they have come up with a new sandwich. It’s called the Chik-On-Chik-Fil-A.

we always had chickfila platters for my kids parties when they were younger. they were HUGE hits. My daughter always wanted me to order the biggest one, so she didn’t have to begrudge her friends eating them at the party because she always wanted leftovers! we had a franchise open closer to us which makes it even more convenient, and i have definitely gone more often since the gay flap erupted.

good to know, we';ve always had the burgers, pizza, hot dogs etc but now my daughter has a birthday in April and we're now going to look at doing what you did especially since you said it is a big hit. We went to a kids party, a 5 years old party the other week and no word of a lie . We got there and the kid was outside crying and no grown ups. We comforted the kid and then went upstairs No kids but two other couples and then the parents. One couple sat at the counter drinking their wine swishing it in one of those posh ways. The other woman had just had a child so she was nursing but she too was just sitting there with her husband drinking a beer which I had never heard of 30 mins in . -------------------------------------------------- My 3 kids looked around and asked "Dad where is the food and the kids to play with etc?" I looked around and thought that maybe the kids and the food might be down stairs in the garage so I asked one of those couples "could you tell me where the kids and food are please?" She said kids are outside. She pointed to the celery, carrot sticks, etc, I then asked where is the other food for the kids to which she replied"Some strawberries and blueberries over there" OK I'm thinking this is nuts , this is supposed to be a kids party with only 3 kids who do not even know the party kid and are not playing with them . Right away my wife starts talking to the party child and my kids start to play with him even though they're older , in one case much older. Once we got the party child happy and smiling my wife then struck up a conversation and it got around to food. The woman who pointed the blueberries out said she broke down once and let her child have a chick fil but only a bite of it. The other woman then said it's hard to know what to get your child for lunch at school and my wife replied 'well we use deli meat, peanut butter and tuna all different days." The blueberry woman said right away "TUNA you use tuna?" My wife said yes and the woman then asked how do you do it. My wife said she uses tinned Tuna ,mix it with celery etc in the early morning before work etc The woman laughed with the other woman and said 'OMG they have tinned tuna, "what a novel idea" We left two hours later, no ice cream, nothing , no games, no nothing, it was a snotty nosed elitist liberal stuck up look at me party lets out do who eats healthier party. Funny thing is that they're drowning in debt, have cars they can;'t afford and probably even haven't paid for her panties yet where as we have no debt and paid off out small house and cars. The reason why I told you is because it is good to know that there are still parents who do things for their children and not use their children to show off or make a statement, good for you. Thank you for being good parents and thank you for the tip about the platter

wow. that is amazing! i am shocked. my husband and i went overboard for our kids bdays, not in expense but in time and talent. just so you know, mine are now 22, 19 and 16. But when they were little up until probably 10 yo or so we did themed parties. Alice in Wonderland [a friend of our’s dressed up like alice with a costume from a costume store], Winnie the Pooh [my husband rented the bear costume] i made character ears out of felt and girls plastic headbands for Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger and Pooh, one for each kid. i did little hunny pots with candy as party favors. Madeline partu, i painted straw hats yellow and put black ribbons on them for all of the girls and did BAD HATS for the boys out of black felt. so yeah, we were pretty overboard but i enjoyed the heck out of it. When they got older they wanted Laser Tag parties or pool parties [the youngest has a july bday] which were far easier for me, but less fun. Chickfila platter, cut up fruit platter, chips and dip, and you are good to go! i feel sad for the bday child you described. Terrible to be an afterthought in your parents lives.

we have our daughters birthday in April and the themed party sounds good so I hope you do not mind if we take your idea.

we’ve always put time and effort into their parties as money is tight, we play games, dress up for daiughters party etc.

Sounds like you raised wonderful children and your good parents , if only everyone else spent the time.

The lady who had the party told us that she is happy MO is dong what she is as she can;t be bothered doing their lunch and is happy the schools will now give them healthier food.

Just what is wrong with some parents today I don’;t know but knowing there are parents like yourselves restores my faith for the future of our country and kids.

Sure, go for it! i’m sure there’s tons you can do with whatever your daughter’s fave thing is. In our area [noVA, DC suburbs] liberals, if anything, treat their kids like they are the center of the universe and they are usually spoiled brats, i guess that is what surprised me about the woman you describe. Liberals do love a public school though! have a great party!

I’ve never been to a Chick fil A. There isn’t one anywhere near us here.
