Maybe Rick didn’t want to show his receipt because he didn’t have it. He handed it off to his partner in crime who was headed for the garden dept. exit... with the exact same TV.

We were in Kohl’s tonight. I was surprised they still ask for your zip. We usually make one up. Customers give this so readily; even their phone 3s. Let them pay me for the info. DBKP
Yes, it makes me wonder if our Founding Fathers put everything they had on the line in order to have free egress from private businesses with loads of merchandise they don’t feel like proving they paid for. Why did they neglect to put an amendment in the Constitution covering the right to be crotchety with capitalist pigs?
He kept insisting so I again refused adding I had no problem showing my I.D. had I been using my credit card. He told he was new and this was how his boss had trained him. I told him to bring his boss over. Odd, the boss wasn't in the store. I was calm the whole time but the kid was getting sarcastic. After completing my transaction, sans I.D., and leaving the store, the kid started saying goodbye loudly and, waving childishly, mockingly yelled, "Have a nice day."

Wal*Mart cannot restrain a person from leaving their store, no matter what. They are not “law enforcement”. They can file a complaint, but they cannot physically restrain someone from leaving. That would be false imprisonment. Are you that damned stupid you can’t comprehend that? Wal*Mart has checkouts in the back of their stores. Purchases can be made there. The customer is under no obligation to prove the transaction once he has paid and gotten his receipt. It is up to Wal*Mart, and other businesses, to establish procedures to remedy loss that do not impede commerce. “Rick” paid for his item and did not have to prove anything. If Wal*Mart thought him a thief, they should have allowed LE to do their job and detain him.
I do wonder if you and kittycat buy your brown shirts at WallyWorld.
I would like you to document where it is Wal-mart's rule or policy to require customers to show a receipt as they exit the store.
I’ll try the “Rick approach” the next time a cop asks to see my driver’s license.
