As many of you know, my old computer died on the sixth of this month and I replaced it with a cheap used computer (yeah, I know; you get what you pay for).
At first there were all sorts of problems--the main one a bad program that was slowing the computer down to the speed of a two toed tree sloth. Removing the program took care of that. Similarly, things have improved in other ways as well and right now I'm pretty satisfied with what I've got--
Except for one thing.
My task bar frequently tells me that my Windows firewall is off. Of course each time this happens I enable it. But then some time later it will prompt me to enable it again.
For some reason my Windows firewall refuses to stay enabled. It keeps going off and I keep having to manually enable it.
Now of course this doesn't take much time but it is annoying and I would like for it to stay enabled and quit bothering me.
Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening?
Thanks!
I love my blackberry but am seeking advise. See general/ chat for my latest post.
If you check again, that website lists many versions of the firewall.
Be sure you are clicking on the link to download Comodo Firewall 2.4.18.184 as a 7.8mb file called Setup.exe.
Some later versions of Comodo did include a virus program; the older one I referenced does not.
How much talent does it take to drone, "Buy an Apple," over and over and over again, like some Moonie trying to sell flowers on a street corner?
And go golfing with Chumley while you're at it....if you're gonna go stupid, go stupid all the way.
TomGuy, could you please send me a link directly to the download site? When I clicked on your link it just gave information about the product and then sent me to a download site for an anti-virus program.

Try the above. It will offer to download a file called setup.exe.
Accept the download, but doing a Save as. You may want to rename the file from ‘setup.exe’ to something like ‘comodofirewall24.exe’ [Just be sure the file is saved with the .exe extension.]
What operating system?
Those dat berned task bars just lie like dogs!!

As I have never advocated the purchase of an Apple...
I have no answer to your question.
Windows XP.
What about this ZA that everyone else is talking about?
You’re comparing the standalone firewall installer from 2007 to the full security suite installer from the 2011 version. Of course, It’s going to be larger! Version 2.4.18.184 to the latest of 5.3.181415.1237 is mighty mighty jump as far as software versioning goes, it’s massive! Every single identifier in the versioning sequence has changed and more than one or even twice, it’s time for you to update. I’m just saying.
Thanks for the advice and the link, but unfortunately to get this “free” download you have to “participate” in something first.
BTW, Comodo rocks! I don’t care what version you’re running.
I used the free version of ZoneAlarm years ago. They had frequent updates and many times those updates conflicted with installed software. And it grew into glutware. I got tired of the conflicts, so I dropped it for Comodo.
I always cringe at ‘upgrade’ or ‘new, improved’ software. Many times, it creates more problems than it solves.
I am still on XP sp2. My laptop and desktop are several years old and not worth upgrading to Win7. I think about a new laptop or desktop, but can’t justify the cost for home use.
Am I okay at going with the default settings?
You’re no fun :-)
