The Reelz Channel has been running a marathon of “The Kennedys” and will show the conclusion on Sunday, April 10th at 8pm ET.

Media Week says the station took a risk airing the miniseries. The station is seen in 60 million homes and receives no fees from cable or satellite providers.

While the top-tier channels receive payments from the providers, Reelz is paid only by advertisers.

Stanley S. Hubbard, the head of Hubbard Broadcasting which owns Reelz, said he hasn’t seen a more “interesting” TV series in decades.

The New York Post calls the Kennedys “One of the best, most riveting, historically accurate dramas”. Meanwhile the LA Times says Barry Pepper deserves an Emmy Award.

Katie Holmes played Jacqueline Kennedy, and Greg Kinnear played John F. Kennedy.

JFK’s father, Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr (Tom Wilkinson), played an important role in getting his son the Presidency.

We have no TV reception. Does the show point out what good friends and supporters they were of Joe McCarthy? Joe McCarthy is actually Kathleen Kennedy Townsend’s (Robert’s daughter) Godfather.

So glad you posted this thread.

Have watched a few episodes and Greg Kinear is fantastic.

But then Kinear never disappoints - deserves an Oscar for this performance...he captures JFK with understated brilliance.

.

Not surprisingly, this negative portrayal of the American political family garnered criticism from the left–and from the Kennedy family. Ted Sorenson, a former advisor to John F. Kennedy, called an early version of the script “malicious” and “vindictive.”

Why did the History Channel drop the show? In an interview
http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/19/the-kennedys-discrimination/
with Entertainment Weekly, Surnow points out that the script was approved by at least two notable historians and experts on The Kennedys–so it wasn’t an issue of historical accuracy. Instead, Surnow says, it came down to “discrimination and censorship”.

Despite how the Libs tried to prevent it from being shown,
watch it.
‘The Kennedys’ turns out to be a solidly entertaining portrait.
