My Firefox went all hanky on me and wants to open 188 windows all at once and I can’t figure out how to make it stop.

sounds like you have a browser hijack problem that needs to be eradicated.

You have a TROJAN on your computer.

Download and install Malware Bytes.

Boot into SAFE MODE and run the program.

Go to your Terminal and run: firefox -safe-mode you should be given several options I would choose continue in safe mode this may clear up your problem, run in safe mode a few seconds then close and run normally.
