Dear Pantheromom:
We have your son's back in the daily prayers lifted up at this point in time by literally millions of solid Christian moms, dads, daughters, sons, aunts, uncles, cousins, others...
Some who have walked the walk you now are faced with.
Most traveling to see their loved ones off to Iraq, Afghanistan, elsewhere on land and sea. All we love and have a distinct affection for in our deep heart of hearts.
I will spare you of the horror nightmares I used to go through as I found myself literally being on the ground in Iraq with my nephew and his Marines during tours in 2004 and 2005 in some really really bad areas of Iraq, Fallujah come to mind.
Dreams and thoughts knowing full well what was actually going on in the gravest details.....actually having dreams that would make me wake up in cold sweats... like I was actually there, with a M16 in my hand.
A Marine nephew I held as a tiny baby and helped along the way taking fishing trips, hikes in the woods and mountains and from tenderfoot scout to Eagle scout.... like a real son to me, very close to this day.
But I won't. Instead. I will pray that you will somehow find a safe haven in God's almighty protective Hand to keep those HE will, safe from harms way, tender with no bounds.
As you worry rightfully so, always remember. There are millions of us praying for your son and every son, daughter, mom and dad who serve in harms way as well as elsewhere throughout this world.
The LORD GOD brought my nephew out of some horror stories. I pray your son will have a non-horror story to report to his dear mom. May HE keep HIS ALMIGHTY HAND OVER YOUR SON AND ALL OUR FAMILIES THAT SERVE WITH HONOR.
ASK HIM for the faith to believe. HE does answer prayers.
And we will await to hear from you in about a year or so as how your son came home unharmed, a bit wiser, a bit stronger, a bit more of a real man. Back to when his mom perhaps can be at the base he returns to and take him into her arms and cry out. Thank you Lord for all you have done for me and my son.
You take care.

Thank you! I understand where you are coming from. I sent him a letter telling him how much I love him and how proud I am of him. I don’t know if I can explain it but to second guess his decision would be a slap in the face to him. He loves where he is right now. I always knew he was of great character, confident and a go getter, I was just waiting for him to see it and joining the Army did that. He told me that he feels like he has finally found a place where he fits perfectly into the grand scheme of things and I know it is true and he is not just saying it to make me feel better.
Thank you for your insight.

My husband loves me. He really, really loves me. And the last thing that he wants is for me to be in pain. That was one amazing post... I believe you're right - he really, really loves you - and you really, really, love him. God bless both of you! Thanks for sharing.
