my school of thought it that I want teachers for my children(grandchildren) to be fully invested in my child's well being and while you can't expect a teacher to love each and every one of his/her students, you can expect him/her to care about them...

I want teachers more beholding to the children than to their stupid pitiful and evil union...

I want them to consider their work a VOCATION .....doing good for the betterment of society, not so they can retire early and wealthy....

IOWS...I want the teachers we knew from 40 yrs ago....

if they return to be those kinds of teachers...the ones respected by both students and their parents....then, I say...SMACK AWAY AT DISRUPTIVE KIDS...

Given the fact that this case happened in Texas, odds are this teacher isn't working to retire early and wealthy. That doesn't happen here. My in-laws are retired teachers. They're not rich nor did they retire early.

When I went to school in the ‘60s, we were taught to go to the teacher, any teacher, and you could get help.

Was also taught that if you stepped out of line, you would get a swat from the teacher, or stand in the corner, or a stinging ruler slap on the palm. Sidney P. in the movie, “To Sir with Love” comes to mind.

What ever happened to the ‘red hand’ in the window to signal kids that that house is a helpful house?

Like already mentioned here: The dang lawyers and the populace mentality of, get rich quick by suing.

Liberalism produced this crap.
