No. 20 SUVs. You don't need a car that big. You. Just. Don't. Why? Because if you really needed a car that big, you'd have a pickup truck. Once upon a time, it might have been the "cool" thing to drive around in a neutered tank, but is showing off how much credit you have really "cool" anymore?

I need a car that big. I have children and take kids to school, the pool, grocery shopping, shopping shopping, Goodwill, Home Depot, etc., etc., etc. Don't touch my SUV, it's my tool. SUVs do two things well: carry people and stuff. Cars carry people well, but suck at carrying stuff. Trucks carry stuff well, but suck at carrying people. My sportute does both well at the same time and it will be a cold day in he!! before I trade it in for a smartcar.

Small to mid size SUV’s suck. They will barely carry two adults and 3 small children (two if you have to use car seats), they don’t get very good mileage, and don’t have enough internal room to carry a very big load.

A minivan will do all that a large SUV can (except pull like a Suburban) and get better fuel economy, too. My wife’s Toyota Sienna gets about 21 mpg around here and 26 on the highway.

Cheers! That's the only one on the list I disagree with. Lay the back seats down and open the hatch and you can carry more stuff. Put a trailer hitch on the back and you're really haulin'. Can't put groceries or merchandise in the back of a pickup if there's rain or you're running more errands because it'll get stolen. Other than that, it's a good list. BTW, I did buy a mocha latte whatever once because it was on sale for $1.99 and I needed the caffine late one night.

I love how the SUV gets me though in all sorts of bad weather. I’ve driven through snowstorms. One time, not too long ago, we just had a huge rainstorm. I drove in my SUV from my house to do some shopping. I went through a very large and deep rain puddle. A while later, I was driving back home, and as I approached that same rain puddle, directly in the middle of it was a tiny sports car with its owner sitting on the engine hood, talking on his cell phone. Obviosuly calling for a tow. The puddle pretty much almost came to the top of his tires. I felt guilty as I drove through that same puddle right in front of him (I was careful to do it slowly so as to not create waves or splash him)

Most any van blows the doors off any SUV.
