It worked in NY-26, but there were a ton of these all over the country in November, and none of them had an impact. I don’t know if the voters there are just lower on the IQ spectrum, or if we have a growing problem.
Bottom line, I agree with your post, and it is up to us in every district in the country to inform voters.
you just need to run some candidates in NY or MA or CA under the banner PEACE PARTY - or POT PARTY and that will eliminate 50% of the Dem voting block. I’ll be a candidate if it will help.....maybe here in Columbia, MO
It really didn't. It was widely known and publicized that Jack Davis was running on a Tea Party label of his own design. And Tea Party activists in Rochester and Buffalo made clear on the radio and in the papers that they were not endorsing him.
Davis, though, is a well-known name here, having run for Congress twice before and his trade-protectionist platform attracted a lot of union types (with which we are infested).
Yes, the NY 26th is the first thing that comes to mind. Saw a poll on FoxNews the other day that had a three way party preference question. The Rs had 20 something, the tea party had 20 something, and the Ds had a plurality with 40 something. Yes, we have a growing problem, especially if the Ds try to make this a major part of their strategy. Even if you have a Libertarian running as a third party, it may be cheaper for the Ds to add money to the Libertarian campaign than to improve the campaign for the D candidate. They will be relying on the public’s confusion over what the Tea Party actually is.

NY is special because the GOP establishment picks the candidate in special elections, (no primary). Thus we have debacles like Dee Dee Scozyfazze, and handpicked Jane Corwyn, in NY26. Both candidates were strongly disliked by the Republicans in the district. NY needs to hold primaries for special elections so the people can have a voice.
