No, it’s a boron compound I think. Definitely not phosphate though.

Borax, known chemically as sodium borate (sometimes called sodium tetraborate), formula

Na2(B4O7)•10(H2O)

, has water softening, cleansing and disinfectant properties, but is not chemically related to any other substance discussed in this thread.

Borax, chemical name: Sodium tetraborate decahydrate - Na2B4O7·10H2O

Commonly used in cleaning products to boost alkalinity. However, it lacks the complexing characteristics of the phosphates.

Also used to raise the alkalinity of the wash (cleaner). It is not as destructive to fabrics as sodium hydroxide.
