It's kind of like rape - if we are going to get screwed anyway, we might as well relax and enjoy it
My comment was meant as a pun. - back in 1990, Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Clayton Williams sent his own campaign against Democratic candidate Ann Richards into a downward spiral when he compared Texas weather to rape: "If it's inevitable, just relax and enjoy it."
More than a few of us here on FR comment 'tongue-in-cheek' on attractive women teachers who seduce their male high school students. It is admittedly in bad taste, but many of us have fond memories of hyperactive hormones in our younger years and fantasies surrounding what amounts to real-life stories.
Admittedly, it would not be so humorous if it were one of our own, but let us have our 15 seconds of fun - however childish!
I realize that. And I realized that was your intention when I commented.
I just think there's some things you don't joke about.
After you've seen aborted babies, you don't joke about abortion.
After you've seen dozens of photos of lynched blacks from the late 1800s and early 1900s, you don't joke about blacks & lynchings.
After you've seen abused kids, you don't joke about abuse.
Rape is just another form of abuse.
The person before you that made the statement showed a sincere lack of judgement and character. The fact that you repeated him doesn’t speak well of yours.
Rape is not funny. Your crass comments are a sign that you have been desensitized to the true horrors of rape. Desensitizing people to evil is very dangerous. Lots of young men believe that it’s every girls fantasy to want to be raped and that they actually enjoy it. Well I can tell you from first hand experience that is NOT the case.
Have fun with it if you think it is funny but don’t expect those of us with better sense to enjoy it with you or let you say it with out rebuke.
