And here's the original recipe!

Ranch Dressing

Mash 1 to cloves garlic and several pinches of salt until a paste is formed.

Whip 1 cup buttermilk along with 2-3 tablespoons lime juice.

Add garlic paste

Add:
1 tablespoon fresh chives, salt and pepper to taste.
If you want the dressing less runny add 1/2 to 1/3 cup mayo or yogurt.

Note:

Ranch dressing was created at the Hidden Valley Ranch Guest House in Santa Barbara in the 1950's
