JUNO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A badly injured sea turtle that underwent a year of rehabilitation and innovative surgeries was released Wednesday by caretakers hoping he finds a mate and helps his endangered species prosper.

Andre, as the 177-pound green sea turtle is known, crawled into the water and swam out of sight before a crowd of hundreds of raucous supporters. He was near death when he was found split open and stranded last year.

Pick a happy topic- any happy topic, then sit back and wait for the bellyaching to start. Such is the mindset of far too many people.

The cost? I invite any and all who contributed to the cost of this rehab (taxes) to step up. The rest need not apply for compensation.

I felt bad for the sea otter, but I felt great that the liberals’ plans were totally smashed.

Oh come on. Really, you really believe that?

After all the illegals and Canadians that flock here?

It’s one freaking turtle and you make that statement with a straight face?

You want to see the normal “healthcare” turtles get? Their remains get driven over multiple times after not making it across the road.

Try not over-reacting.

It was funny how so upset they were when it got eaten. What did they expect? And these clowns are in charge of the US?? In the media??

I know they (and most people probably) would not expect that almost as soon as it was released into the water it would get eaten.

I did feel bad for it, I’m not a fan of death, but I always enjoy it when liberals’ ‘perfect’ plans screw up. And such plans tend to screw up quite often.

I don’t watch TV (much) but reading about them is pure entertainment.

Sort of like young condors in California being released only for people watching to see one immediately killed by a bald eagle

Yes, believe that was on B Clinton’s ‘watch’. They had gathered the children for a photo op and WJC was ‘presiding’ over the event when the young bird was released an older predator swooped down and captured it in its talons...Like birds of prey are prone to do....

Good life lesson turned into a ‘tragedy’ all for a few photos and because of ‘do gooders’.

I always thought if you really wanted to save a bunch of sea turtles all you would have to do is go to the beach when they are hatching and throw crackers at the sea gulls while the baby turtles waddled into the water. The weak ones would still die, but you could save hundreds... not just a single one that got smacked by a boat.

I realize there is more than one cause out there and I am all for saving animals, but I was speaking about the people in this country that would save a spotted owl or a three inch fish over the needs of humans for their own selfish causes. PETA comes to mind.

What can be more important than saving a baby from death? You say the cause they are involved in may not be the one I think is most important. NOTHING is more impoprtant than saving a baby from abortion.

These people did a good thing, I even said so in a post. I just wish more people in general would speak up for the innocent babies.

You’re preaching to the choir here on FR. Nobody here is PETA.

If nothing is more important than saving a baby from abortion, I hope you’re out in front of a planned parenthood 24/7. If in fact you truly are not exaggerating, and nothing, NOTHING is more important. Camp out there all the time.

Why are you complaining to us that nobody speaks up for babies? We are not PETA people here. The people here ARE THE ONES that speak up for the unborn. It isn’t the ONLY THING we speak up about. But we here aren’t the ones that aren’t speaking up for them.

If you’re unhappy about it, why not voice your concern to the very group of people that made you comment about this in the first place?

That is why I voiced my opinion here, because I am part of the choir.

I was not speaking about Freepers, conservatives or republicans, I was speaking about liberals who seem to be more a culture of death than pro life. Maybe I didn’t make myself clear but I thought mentioning peta people would understand what I was speaking about.

I love animals very much and I was glad they saved the turtle. I was also sad it died, maybe I didn’t make that to clear either. If I confused anyone I do apologize.

I was just reading the new replies and answering secret agent and I saw post #24 and thought the turtle had gotten eaten after being released and I felt bad about bringing up the other issue. Now I realize they were speaking about something else.

And I get your point too. But I wouldn’t necessarily jump to the conclusion however that all these wildlife rehab people fall into the peta category. You and I are Christians and we love animals and we are not peta people. They may have God-given talents and abilities and are using them this way doing what they were meant to do.

I understand completely they shouldn’t be lumped into one category, just as they shouldn’t lump us into one. I do thank God there are people caring enough to save innocent creatures, I am one myself.

I was just talking about those like the peta people who are so rabid about it. Thank you for your kind reply. Had a tough day and I very much appreciate your understanding.
