Whenever you hear the word “fair,” be very skeptical.

What is your definition of “fair trade?”

Fair trade is not on the Tea Party agenda and I don’t think it should be.

The Tea Party is for free markets, which in a way calls for free trade.

Be suspicious whenever The Government wants to interfere in free markets, especially if they start using words like “fair.”

I’m with you, there is NOTHING that thrills the unions more than having a CAPTIVE MARKET for their labor.

So I’ll make you (or them, really) a deal. Outlaw private-sector unions, and then we’ll look at “fair trade”.

“Fair trade” means some authority picks winners. True free trade places manufacturing and commerce where it should be due to competitive advantage. True free trade has resulted in manufacturing coming back to the U.S. as the advantage became apparent. “Fair trade” becomes stuck and immovable due to the bias and fossilization of the authority.
