In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

e·pis·to·lar·y /[ih-pis-tl-er-ee] adjective
1. contained in or carried on by letters: an epistolary friendship.
2. of, pertaining to, or consisting of letters.

Example sentence:
First came his romantic epistolary novel, La Nouvelle Heloise, ou Lettres de deux amans, also entitled Julie, which he had begun in 1757.
--- Dave Edmonds, John Eidinow, Rousseau's Dog, 2006

Etymology:
1650–60; Latin epistolāris of, belonging to a letter

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Would a collection of e-mails be considered an e-pistolary?

I suppose Anthony Weiner’s twitter relationships could have been categorized as epistolary. Or in his case, e-pizzle-ary.

thanks, we need more salacious scandals. i live for them! i was sad all day about the hockey plane crash, yesterday. xsboy is trying out for the SU hockey team, he said last night at tryouts he overheard the team capt say to the coach, we aren’t flying to any games this year are we? and the coach said no, that they didn’t have to, all were close enough to go by bus. All of hockeydom has been affected by this.

were i in the Italy, i'd be all up on the foxy knoxy story, but you said you haven't been following it? xshub laughs every time he hears them refer to her as foxy knoxy, which is literally EVERY TIME they do a news story on this trial! i haven't followed it in depth, but was very interested to read Ann's take, since my gut reaction is the girl is guilty.

The USPS blames its financial position on a reduction in epistolary relationships.

I did see that her case is in appeal. I honestly have no idea whether she is guilty or not. I think that the evidence got so screwed up that nobody will ever know except for Amanda herself.

:P

I found the debate surprising good across the board, even despite it being sponsored by pMSNBC and the Politico.
