"At the new test, the E-cat was first run for 90 minutes assisted with a thermal electric power input of 2.6 kilowatts. The electric power was then cut off and the E-cat continued to operate for 35 minutes without external energy input. "

CheezesH...

If you are going to DO one of these tests, do it long enough TO PROVE SOMETHING. Does it work or doesn't it?

I could make anything run for 35 minutes if you let me power it up for 90. duuhhhhhhhhhhh

"IB4TS In Before The Seagulls"

I see the size of the flock has increased.

No measurement of steam temperature or pressure, no measurement of water flow, just eye-balled for about 1/2 out versus in. No energy or power measurements. And it was only run for half an hour.

What a joke of a test.

Very interesting. The size of the device means there could be a hidden power source, so this report does nothing to allay valid skepticism. (Of course, it also gives no particular reason to believe it’s a scam, the naysayers notwithstanding).

But let’s run with the idea that this is real, since screaming ‘lies, lies, all lies’ is so intellectually barren. I wonder what’s involved in the additional mass of the device? From what I recall of the earlier analyses, that much extra mass is not required to provide hidden power for such a short test, which implies there is some functional reason for the new design. The article doesn’t comment on that. Anyone else have a guess?

The only thing I can think of would be hardware for the feedback mechanism to run in self-sustaining mode. This would involve not just electronic controls but also something to convert the heat to electricity, which would explain the additional mass.

OK, just looked at the pics at the site - apparently these new E-cats are rated at 27 kilowatts, much more than the earlier design. That would also explain the higher mass.

Hopefully they will provide additional test data on longer-duration tests, with better quantification of the power output and steam quality and so forth. Otherwise, we can just keep being patient for October. But this does seem a little hopeful.

I wonder what this (from the article with the pics of the 1 MW plant) means?

"At the launch a complementary part will be included to attain a power-output rating of one megawatt, as the 52 units will be operated at reduced power levels to ensure stability even at intervals with self-sustained operation."

The way I read that, Rossi thinks its important to meet the 1 MW rating in the demo even if he has to hitch up some extra E-cats. But hitching anything up to the primary plant looks suspicious and raises the risk of sneaking in an external power source. I'd much rather he just demo the current plant. Let's say it just hits 700 kilowatts or something. So long as independent observers can validate the power output and the lack of hidden connections, I and everyone else will be happy. Who's going to quibble about a fraction of claimed power output when the basic technological claim is so explosive?

The 1 MW plant array looks pretty open to inspection based on the pics at Ny Technik. Of course, if its a scam then they would make it appear as such, except for the one very well disguised power line. Let them put that plant up on stilts or something so we observers can really go over every inch of the exterior in operation.

I would like this to be true.... but as the man says.... believe half of what you see and none of what you here. Results are the only thing I believe in now days... show me a working functional unit that is capable of all the claims and I’ll climb on board.... until then call me suspicious.

I love this machine!!! It’s like a dollar bill changer, if you get back what you put in you call the operation a success.
I’m going to buy two of them. One can power the other and I’ll have endless hot water. I just love it!!

Although I’m actually very interested and cautiously excited about the e-Cat stuff, if I may play devil’s advocate for a sec - A Leaf will do that.

I don’t understand why he would need to keep adding heat to a nuclear heat machine.

In an unrelated note, Eestor is now two years late in releasing their prototype unit, about 5 years late from their initial promises. Europositron is about a decade late and being prosecuted for fraud.

Jed Rothwell was stating that there were working LENR water heaters back in the mid 90’s and that they would be available for retail soon.

This demonstration is not reassuring.

“- The temperature inside the E-cat, which we assume is the steam temperature, reached over 130 degrees, while the pressure was probably about one atmosphere.

- The steam was invisible at the outlet indicating high steam quality.”

These two things mean nothing. Steam can be invisible without being high quality. You measure steam quality by the amount of water that has yet to be put into a gaseous form at “about one atmosphere”.

assuming the stated 135*C (=275*F) and 1 atmosphere = 14.696 lb/in^2 absolute, then steam tables indicate about 29.5 degrees of superheat at 275*F. Constant superheated steam at one atmosphere isn’t reached until around 320*F. that’s what is needed for steam turbines in order to limit long term damage to the blades/fins.

It’s been so long since I’ve used my tables, I’m having trouble calculating the vapor content at those numbers...the tools are there why don’t people use them...
