If you aren’t cocky, then I would suggest refraining from posting things like:

“Get with it buddy.”

You are implicitly (actually...explicitly) saying that someone else is not “with it”. Which is to say, that you are much smarter than the other person and they just need to get with the program.

That to me, is a perfectly rational and objectively defensible definition of both cocky and condescending.

There are legitimate arguments to make on behalf of Palin, and legitimate arguments to make against her...including her experience, and including the big question mark as to whether she is running, or not (and whether her delay has been helpful in the overarching objective of beating obama). These are good and fruitful discussions to have. But by personalizing and saying things like “Get with it buddy” you are moving away from the discussions and making it personal. Which was the whole point of my original line of thought. The internet attack dogs are losing potential votes for Palin.

This all sort of reminds me of a straw poll I attended in my state a few years ago, in the 08 election cycle. One of those meaningless exercises, but still, worth attending.

After Ron Paul spoke, his most strident supporters quite literally flooded into the aisles of the convention center while the rest of the conservative audience (many of whom were retirees) and stood in the aisles yelling, and waving their signs.

The gentleman closest to me (I was sitting on an aisle seat) was yelling at the top of his lungs, waving his Paul sign, and screaming: “You better get a clue, you establishment Trotskyite Republicans”.

Well, then.

Republicans who don’t follow Ron Paul are followers of....Trotsky! That sort of came as a surprise to me.

That is similar to the tone and tactics that I hear from the Palin only crowd. (Not yet to that degree, but still...on that trajectory). If you aren’t with them, then you are an idiot, commie rino, who doesn’t know squat about anything, and you need to “get with the program” and wake up and smell the coffee, etc.

That’s sort of how I see things as of now.

All that said, IF Palin runs (and especially IF the primary is still active by the time it gets to my state...usually doubtful), I will consider her alongside any other candidates that remain. I suspect and fear by that time, however, that it will be only Romney and maybe one lone alternative. But we’ll hope for something better than that.

Hang in there. These primary races and Presidential campaigns are chaos but they are a very important part of being free in a Democratic Republic. I can tell you have a good mind and your help will be usefull in nominating and electing Sarah Louise Palin as President of the United States.

Thank God we are free. And the Republican party needs to be the party for all free men and women (even if they disagree on issues or candidates).
