GRAND JUNCTION, CO--- Up to a foot of snow in the mountains, and lots of rain for the Valley with much cooler temperatures.
Anyone traveling to the high country will want to be prepared for winter driving conditions as we could see a foot of snow in about all of our mountain areas.
Winter Storm Warnings and Watches are in effect. Hunters and hikers should be prepared for strong winds as well as snowfall and temperatures in the daytime in the 30's and in the teens at night.
A cold front passes Thursday afternoon that will lower snow levels to mountain bases around 6000 feet

Good grief ... we were hunting on the Uncompahgre Plateau 3 weeks ago and it was 90 degrees daytime and not less than 55 at night, and we were around 9000 ft. Wish we were there now.

Wow. Our cross-the-street neighbors left Friday for a hiking holiday in Tahoe. They usually go skiing there in January, but decided to go in the fall to hike.
They may wind up skiing after all . . . hope they packed some warm clothes!

I'll bet they did pack something suitable, if they are familiar with the area. If not ... there is always shopping!
On our hunting trip we drove down to Grand Junction to visit Cabelas, and we ended up buying several pair of shorts because we had packed minimal hot weather stuff. Hottest I've ever seen in that area during September.

Temps in Denver are in the 70’s. Temperatures here in Iowa are in the 80’s.

I just spoke to my Mom who is in Platoro. She said it was 36 and snowing. She said they were expecting 15-18 inches.

About time for the Overlook Hotel to close down for the winter. The winter caretaker has just arrived and the summer employees are preparing to leave for the season.
