A picture is worth a thousand words (There wasn't anything worth posting within the blog posting.)

Is the next pic the Dobie biting the girls rear? I always had bad experiences with them. I'm not the only one.

Please! Not the dogs...."The lads" :)

Still love Magnum PI. BTW, IMHO TS is also great in Blue Bloods, Quigley Down Under, and any other thing he does.

Actually met him once at a UCLA "Share Show" back in the 80's. His son played volleyball at USC. Seemed like a genuine guy.

Especially since the foul-mouthed author is in error:

“Dobermans were the pit bulls of the 1990s”

No...they were the “pit bulls” of the 1970s.

I’ve had them for nearly 40 years and lived through all the “killer Dobe” hype.

It would appear that she’s using *silver* so a previous thread was right.

Only silver nail polish is appropriate for ‘the savage breeds’.

:)

The little girl is adorable and blessed beyond words to have such a great best friend.

No...that would’ve been my HS best friend.

She regularly painted her Dobe’s nails...but her Dobe was female so I didn’t rag her *too* much about it....LOL

[at that girl’s age, I had a Poodle whose nails ~were~ painted to match the bows on her ears...by her groomer]

LOL

So here’s the site where *they* found it.

http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/mbves/this_is_my_daughter_doing_my_dobermans_nails/

Still a bit of language tho some of the reddit-ors posted more cool dobie stories & links to their own photos.

Thanks for posting, BTW. That picture is priceless!

She was one bad ass little Poodle.

I was building a snowman in the back yard one day and my uncle came up and started rough housing with me and she grabbed his calf through his boot and wouldn’t let go.

Tito [the ‘man killer’] Dobe of my youth was terrified of her.

She didn’t take any crap off anybody and “big and bad” didn’t impress her one bit.

She was a cool little dog.

She’d stand up behind me on my bike seat, put her paws on my shoulders and ride with me all over the place while the poor Dobe had to run along beside.

Worked smarter, not harder.

:)

Rmember that movie that Fred Astaire did in the 1970s called The Dobermans? They fitted those dogs with false teeth to look especially fearsome.

“Those Amazing Dobermans!” [with James Franciscus starring as eye candy] was part of the Doberman trilogy.

First was “The Doberman Gang” followed by “The Daring Dobermans”.

“Those Amazing Dobermans!” was a much watered down finale to lessen the ‘scariness’ of the dogs in the first two.

[dressed in circus costumes, for example]

On late night TV, I saw the first one when I was about 13, asked God for one to protect me from my pedo uncle and seriously, a “stray” showed up in my yard less than a week later.

[and it’s not like we had packs of them wandering around lost back then, mind you]

Sweet, gentle Caesar was my first hairy Angel, the much more ‘serious’ Tito was given to me about a year later and many more followed.

Life without at least one isn’t really living.

They didn’t have false teeth in the movies, they had cotton wads stuffed up under their lips to show off their perfectly natural awesome pearly whites...:)

/humming “Mack The Knife”, now

LOL

If you wanna see unbelievably goofy “false teeth” on a Dobermann, rent “Zoltan: Hound Of Dracula” sometime.

Unintentionally hilarious movie.
Along with the goofy ‘vampire fangs’, they dumped corn starch all over the poor dog to make him look “undead”.

The great Jose Ferrer also stars, even though he pretty much acts like he’s just killing time until the check clears.

;D

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077470/

I briefly considered naming Odin “Zoltan” when he was a pup, just for enigmatic giggles.

[but then came to my senses and named him after one of his famous ancestors, instead]

I agree. The only Dobies I have ever been around snapped at some point and were only good as watch dogs, completely away from people. Don’t know of any other breeds that do that.

Gosh, Salamander. I remember when our Oden was about six months old to a year... the stuff he accidentally broke was funny. He just didn’t know he was going to be a big dog. Not a mean bone in his 100 lb. body either EXCEPT when it came to bees. He HATED them with a passion. I don’t know how many times we had to pull him out of an azalea bush after he plunged into it to get the buzzing sound. I just love the breed!
