You’re not doing it right if the noodles are crunchy, lol. Just the cheese. The macaroni sort of layers into the cheese a lot like lasagna, and you serve slices with a spatula.
I think their true favorite is Mac and Gubmint Cheese. If Barack Hussein wins a second term we will all be eating on the welfare.
I don’t like crunchy cheese, either. Just a personal taste ... I understand it’s a favorite dish for many Southerners. I thought Bob Garner on “North Carolina Weekend” would have a heart attack right at the table a few times!
Oh, that sounds pretty good. Especially if you add some chopped onions towards the end of the cooking time.

What the heck are they doing putting SPONGEBOB next to the real MAC for? Aught to be a law, no more SPONGEBOB mac and cheese, EVER. ruined my whole day being CONNED like that.
It’s great food, either way. No type of cheese is all that inexpensive anymore, but I do love it and look forward to it, getting hard to find prepared that way out in the world, in a restaurant. I’ve eaten it all my life and took it for granted until recent years.
My family has Native American roots (Choctaw/Cherokee on mother's side) and English/German on father's side. I'm a native born Californian but I wouldn't think of having anything but cornbread stuffing. We've had greens (all types of greens) potato salad, yams (not in pies though, pumpkin was the pie choice) but never mac & cheese for Thanksgiving. I married a Canadian and was introduced to fresh roasted chestnuts in the fireplace for the first time. YUM! But not in my cornbread stuffing. Also plum pudding, but way too rich for my taste.
Just the texture of the boxed stuff is enough to turn me off. Then, there’s that Al Gore in stage makeup color, lol.

I have too many nightmares of Kraft’s mac & cheese growing up. And to sicken me further, put in those cut up off-brand hot dogs. I haven’t had mac & cheese for 35 years and I don’t miss it a bit!
The baked is absolutely awesome, I make it all the time. I also make extra because (from the same show) you cut it in cubes and deep fry it! Yum.

Actually think I will make some today. But will have to be the box kind because I used my cheese already.
My trick for good boxed is to cook the macaroni in a wide pan with just enough water. No draining is needed and the starches help make it creamy and smooth when I add the real butter and a little milk or heavy cream and then the sauce packet. Sometimes add cheese or cheese slices if adding meat and veggies.
Two more things that I sometimes add is a little yellow mustard or dill weed. Both go great with M&C.
