California ranks 46th in business friendliness as measured by 44 different tax and public policy issues, according to a new study from the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council, a Virginia-based advocacy group. Still, California ranks at or near the bottom in such categories as personal income tax, personal capital gains tax, gasoline and diesel taxes, per capita state and local government expenditures, per capital state and local government debt and highway cost effectiveness.

California moved up a couple of spots in this annual study because other states are hiking taxes even faster and Golden State voters had to good sense to turn down a sales tax hike.

Nebraska had sent a delegation to Kalifornia with the express idea of luring them to the Heartland. If I recall the Omaha World Herald story correctly, they were successful, but not ready to make announcements just yet.

There is some good news here. In the not too distant future, CA won’t have the revenue to enforce their draconian anti-business laws.

Only 46th? I'm amazed. Our governor, Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown, along with our Democratic legislature seem hell-bent to drive all free enterprise out of the state.

San Francisco is very business friendly. It must have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. Everyone knows a guy can go to San Francisco and get a job.....hand or blow depending on how much money you want to spend.
