In more than two dozens cities across the nation Tuesday, an offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street movement took on the housing crisis by re-occupying foreclosed homes, disrupting bank auctions and blocking evictions.
Occupy Our Homes said it's embarking on a "national day of action" to protest the mistreatment of homeowners by big banks, who they say made billions of dollars off of the housing bubble by offering predatory loans and indulging in practices that took advantage of consumers.
In Atlanta, Occupy Our Homes activists went to the courthouses in three of the area's largest counties, DeKalb, Gwinnett and Fulton, Tuesday morning to disrupt the foreclosure auctions happening there.
"We're using our voices, whistles and other noise. The auctioneers don't know what to do and some of the buyers left," said Tim Franzen, an Occupy Atlanta spokesman. The group is demanding an immediate moratorium on all foreclosures, he said.

Protecting private property rights, whether for banks holding foreclosures, pension funds holding GM bonds, successful people by taxing at confiscatory rates, or individuals at odds with the EPA, is not Obama’s strong suit.
Jesus said “Occupy” until I return. I dont think this is what He meant but how long before these fruitcakes begin to quote that passage in defense of “Squatting”
In my county, here are the rules for the auction at a sheriff’s sale.
“A bidder who bids on a property but does not have the required ten-percent (10%) of the accepted final bid may be in contempt of court. Time is not allowed to go to a bank, obtain money from someone waiting outside, or any other reason; ten-percent (10%) of the bid is due immediately. Your failure to have the necessary payment will result in the bid being rejected. In such circumstances, the judge who issued the order to sell the property will be requested to find the bidder in contempt of court. If the judge makes a finding of contempt, the individual may be fined a substantial amount of money.”
Put the added condition on that they may not enter the auction unless they have in cash 10% of the lowest prepublished minimum bid. That might slow them down a bit. And, of course, eject anyone causing a disruption.
They need need to Occupy a Cell in the local jail.
