Why Did the Deadliest SEAL Sniper Punch Jesse Ventura in The Face?
Posted on January 5, 2012 at 6:20am by Mike Opelka Print »Email » Comments (172)Imagine what would happen if a man in a bar told a group of Navy SEALs that he:
Disagrees with the war.
Believes they (the military) are murderers, killing innocent people men, women and children Thought they probably deserve to lose a few of their own. You are probably wondering if the guy making the offensive comments is still alive.
He is alive, and he also happens to be Jesse Ventura, a SEAL alum/reservist and the former governor of Minnesota.
Making matters worse, Venturas comments were directed at Chris Kyle, the Navy SEAL known as the militarys deadliest sniper.
This little known incident was brought out during an interview on SiriusXMs Opie and Anthony radio show on Wednesday. Speaking exclusively to The Blaze, Gregg Opie Hughes explained that he had a tip to ask Kyle about his run-in with Jesse Ventura. So Opie casually brought it up and the story unfolded.
It was in 2006 when Ventura and the SEALs happened to be in the same bar, for very different reasons. The SEALs were holding a wake to honor a lost member of their team. Jesse was in town to speak to some new graduates of the SEAL program. During his military career from 1969-75, Ventura was a member of the Navys elite Underwater Demolition Team or UDT (the UDT was the precursor to the SEALs) and Jesse is a SEAL reservist. You might expect that sharing the history of membership in an elite military unit would garner a lifetime of mutual respect. Not so with Ventura.

I never said he wasn’t a jerk.
probably because he didn’t have a gun at the time to kill him with!
Too bad.
IIRC, Ventura was in UDT; the SEAL teams were an elite branch of that already tough bunch. Ventura was not a SEAL.
You're all just jealous of The Body
PS: If this is true he better stay out of the country.
Interesting story; my first reaction, though, was , "because Ventura is a complete ass."
Yeah— well my bumpersticker can cover her bumpersticker—
Mine says Barack Obabma IMPEACH HIM.
Looks like this Truther nitwit learned some real truth. Don’t write checks you can’t cash. Good for the sniper.
Minnesota is weird. We have Keith “X” Ellison and Michelle Bachmann. total opposites.
I know where you are coming from. My granddad was an FDR Democrat. He was conservative as could be, but when discussion turned to politics it was like he was stuck in a time machine. He didn't see the present political landscape, he saw shadows and phantoms out of the forties and fifties. I don't think he ever quite forgave me for registering Republican. His last vote before he died was for Clinton. I never got through to him.
I live in MD and we have both extremes because of Baltimore and DC. Outside of the urban cores this is a really conservative state. (Which is why the Dems have gerrymandered a district that runs all the way from Ocean City to Hagerstown but also takes in a big portion of uber-left Montgomery County...that way the rural conservatives have no representation.)
>>IF the SEALs accept him as a former SEAL, then he’s a former SEAL.
Bingo. I know a SEAL though our being good friends with his mother. We went with her and her 2nd husband to Dante’s in Atlanta, which is run by Dante Stephenson, an interesting and colorful guy who was also UDT back in the pre-SEAL era. He came around and was really interested in her being a SEAL mom and her SEAL logo necklace she was wearing (and often wears).
She later took her son there when he was in town. He had checked out Dante and proclaimed him the real deal. He definitely accepted/accepts Dante as a SEAL.
And it looks like there is a pretty major difference between UDT who became the first SEALs, and UDT vs. SEALs in the Vietnam era. I’m pretty sure Dante pre-dated Vietnam.
I live in an area of FL loaded with midwesterners, IA, MI, OH, etc. My friends are all conservative, and all of them complain that their parents back home continually vote Democrat even though they hate everything they stand for.
They just can’t bring themselves to vote R, although they keep complaining about the creeping facism.
Nope. But you are closer in the next post. Pre-SEAL, frogs in UDT were “the” badasses in the USN, from WW2 to 1962.
After that, it was SEALs, and “just UDT.” Not that anything was wrong with being an old-time “leadline” (for the hydro beach surveys) UDT platoon.
But there were even SEALs who, circa 1966) (IOW, bullets in the future) who suddenly felt a need to transfer to UDT. (It was safer.) THEN, a couple of notable frogs, circa late 1970s, transferred BACK to SEAL Teams! Now, these jackasses, unlike Ventura, could say they were SEALs. (Who ran away to UDT during the war years.) I could drop names, I won’t.
Ventura, though, was never a SEAL for even one day, during the only period when the UDT/SEAL distinction REALLY mattered: during the VN war. When SEALs were getting shot, and UDTs were not.
So every real deal SEAL (and UDT) knows that Ventura is lying when he claims he was a SEAL. When he was in, the distinction was HUGE.
Gotcha. And I think if you check up on Dante, he was a plank owner on one of the original teams, but obviously was UDT first because that is all there was at that time.
“Why Did the Deadliest SEAL Sniper Punch Jesse Ventura in The Face?”
.
Because he was there? (and deserved it)
>> “Maybe Jesse knows stuff that the public doesnt?” <<
.
Like that he’s gay?
.
I understand that Fred Phelps asked Jesse to join the Westboro Baptist Church at the next protest at a soldier’s funeral.
No word yet from Jesse..
