Biggest surprise of the night was Elise. She's now, IMHO, a serious candidate to win it all, if she can maintain her performance at this level.
The biggest turn-off for me, this whole season, has been the judges critiques. Pure saccharine, and almost totally worthless. I gather that when the show was "retweaked" before the start of the season, a conscious decision was made that the judges would be "nice"..almost uniformly so, in their comments.
Bring back Simon Coewll...

Most of the time I don’t care for Elise, and she said that was a song that she was used to doing with her band, so, should have done a good job, being so familiar with it.
