I believe you hit it on the nose, Mags. If Hollie had a sang (sung?) a different song the exact same way, I doubt Steven would have been so dismissive.
They fell all over themselves for Colton's worship song, but I didn't hear Jesus in that at all (but I could be wrong).
You are accurate with regard to Coltons “worship” song...in that Stevie Nicks, while mentoring him—made reference to the lyrics refering to worship of a woman, or some such (listen to the playback)and the judges did not even seem to pick up on the fact that it was a Christian song... those people are so ignorant, they had no clue what his song was about! (ALthough I did not care for Coltons singing last night, I admire his Chutzpah (and his faith) for “going there” :-)
The song sung by Colton was by Lifehouse and many of their song, although Christian, are not overly Jesus-y.
While on the subject I will rant for a moment...I have spent the last week covering Pope Benedict's trip to Mexico and Cuba. He came to our hemisphere with a message of Christ's love and living in freedom to practice and worship him. He brought this message particularly to Cuba, but with veiled references to the US and their new policies. The lack of media interest was astonishing. The spanish language stations covered it but they focused on the stupidest things, like why didn't the Pope kiss the ground, will Fidel get forgiveness (I don't know, did he ask for it?). The English stations here in Miami were truly pathetic. Every night they opened with the kid in the hoodie shooting and won't let this story go! After a week of this my head is about to explode.
On a funny note, you hear lots of behind the scenes things...they had nicknames for Raul Castro, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez....Moe, Larry, and Curly.
o.k. I will get back to the fun now:)
