Back in the early 70’s my mother thought my young boys needed the experience of playing with baby dolls. The results were baby dolls with no heads used as weapons in cowboy games! Sometimes they were aimed and imagined to be guns.

They are now healthy productive God-fearing loving fathers and husbands.

—The results were baby dolls with no heads used as weapons in cowboy games!—

That is exactly the kind of thing that happened and was discussed in the PBS follow up show. Give a boy a stick, and it becomes a gun, or a sword, or a club.

Same here. My sons' preschool female friends would bring over their Barbie boxes with clothes and hangers and such, and they'd dress and undress and dress and undress....the boys were kind of intrigued.

So I got them each a Barbie and some clothes for Christmas. Of course, people could barely wrap their heads around that. I, as their mom, knew what was coming....and it did.

One day I found one son standing over the garbage can cutting off her hair. He then bent her body into a 90 degree angle from her legs, pointed her at the other boy, and she instantly became a gun from that point forward.

My then husband and I had a good laugh over that.

My son was putting plows on his trucks yesterday and I asked my 4 year old Grandson if he wanted to help. He put on his jacket and yelled “Man Work!” and ran out the door.
