A cat belonging to 3rd Congressional District candidate Ken Aden’s campaign manager was killed Sunday. The cat’s corpse was spray-painted with the word “liberal.”
Jacob Burris, Aden’s campaign manager since October, said his four children discovered the cat dead on the front porch when the family arrived at their Russellville home Sunday.
Aden said the incident is disgusting.
“This individual must have had a screw loose in the head,” Aden said today. “It’s just wrong, any way you slice it.”
Burris filed an incident report with the Russellville Police Department and has contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Aden said.
Josh McMillan, department public information officer, said officials had no leads or suspect information. If information on a suspect is developed, officers will treat the incident as an animal cruelty case, he said.
“Right now we have no other reports of this happening,” McMillan said, “but we plan to step up patrols in the area to make sure it is an isolated event.”
Aden said he doesn’t intend to the let the incident affect the campaign.
“All across the country, people are fed up with politics, but we have to stay above the fray,” he said.
The 33-year-old Russellville Democrat is running for the seat held by Republican Rep. Steve Womack of Rogers. Womack is seeking re-election.
The general election is Nov. 6.
This is not how to make a political statement.

This is a really nasty thing to do. When I hear about these things, the first thing I think of is that the liberals do it to themselves so they can accuse the conservatives. But I hate to point the finger at anyone on this, without some evidence.
That was my first thought.

I was thinking the same. I’ve used cans of spray paint before and you would have a tough time painting the whole word on a cat.
Sounds like a phony story to gain sympathy.
It certainly isn’t the way to make a statement, this doesn’t seem like something a tea party’er would do either.

Why was this reported to the FBI? I don’t see where killing a cat qualifies for federal intervention. Typical leftist reaction.
I am not sure he did it himself, but my first thought was a liberal committed the crime.
Just like in all the other cases ...it turns out the unhinged person is a liberal themselves.
If someone killed his cat that someone should be punished severely. However, to immediately blame the party of your opponent is knee-jerk hatred. Remember, it was just a year ago when the MSM and all the lefty pundits came storming out blaming Sarah Palin and Republicans for shooting Gabby Giffords, when in fact the perp was one of their own: a lefty nut case.
Seems like this kind of thing happens all the time now - a spray painted swastika here, a noose hanging from a tree there - and most times it turns out to have been done by the victim to make their opponents look bad.
