i've got a full size M1A and a SOCOM-16" and an HK-91A3, if i had to go out the door though, i'd take the SOCOM

I bought a SOCOM 16, had to send it back to have the barrel recrowned and it still patterns like a shotgun. The only Springfield I have ever had trouble with. Not sure if a 16 inch barrel is what you want with the typical bullet weights in .308.

I know they are pretty expensive, but I shot a FN SCAR and that thing is pretty cool. Light, well balanced, folding stock, good rails for optics, and was pretty accurate for the type of sight on it. Way better balance than the SOCOM.
