Shocked at the overwhelming margin, but Newt did not have a good week....it became pretty clear in the past five days he was unlikely to win. His debate performances were probably his worst, and he just didn’t seem to have a theme in Florida. His speech on Saturday night was brilliant, as were some of his other performances, but only a very small percentage of voters would know that. Newt’s advertising was not effective enough to fend off the money or attacks sent his way.

In the end, this is sad and disappointing, but the candidates have to find a way to work through the sludge and communicate an alternative worth voting for. Unfortunately, his campaign lost all the momentum coming out of that South Carolina win.

Glad you brought up Newt’s debate performances. When a guy builds his rep on his debating skills, he can’t afford to go flat the way he did in the FL debates.

I my opinion, Newt needs some hardened pros as top advisers. He has surrounded himself with too many whiz kids who are more kid than whiz. Good, hardened advisers would not have let him flatline in the FL debates.

My wife is very conservative but she just can’t handle Newt’s affairs.
