At the end of 1999 ESPN ran this breathtaking montage of some of histories' most famous sports happenings and personalities. There are few things better in life than sports highlights set to music, and this is the best of the bunch. This video is basically 7 minutes of chills. Memories of events you may witnessed, clips of events you only heard people mention.

My two all-time sports moments are both on this video:
Miracle on Ice
Kirk Gibson's homer
Honorable mention goes to Steve Yzerman's goal from center ice against the Blues

I totally agree on Gibson’s homer. In my humble opinion it was the most amazing event in the history of sports.

Thanks for the great link. Lots of amazing sports memories there.
Mario Lemieux's game-winning goal in Canada's 6-5 win over the USSR in the 1987 Canada Cup final was an amazing moment that didn't get as much attention down here in the U.S. as it did up there.

That was a delight. Thanks for posting. :)
One of my fave still images from sports...
I understand this to be the story behind the image: 04 Feb 1957, The Bronx, New York City, New York State, USA --- Original caption: Mickey Mantle, the big gun of the New York Yankees, is getting some jubilation out of his system by batting snowballs at Yankee Stadium. Mickey's jubilation came form signing his 1957 contract with the Yankees for approximately $60,000. Whitey Ford was pitching the snowballs to his good friend, Mantle.

Glad they had Johnny U and the REAL Colts 2x, and a Secretariat clip (at least for horse-racing generally, if not specifically for Sec’s sake).

Thank you.
A little too fast for these old, slow eyes (and slower brain), but the pause button came in handy.
I’m amazed at how many faces and events I recognized.

I totally agree on Gibsons homer. In my humble opinion it was the most amazing event in the history of sports. I know, it was one of those rare moments where you are stunned when it happens ... totally unexpected. The shocked look on Dennis Eckersley's face said it all.
To: navysealdad
Oh man. Some of those I'll never forget. Larry Bird's steal of the Isiah Thomas pass to Laimbeer brought a little kid to tears. The Yzerman Goal (With Mickey Redmond's "60 footer! Bingo!" call), Colorado beating the Wolverines. :), George Brett Pine Tar, Barry Sanders, "The band is on the field", Time out Webber, Flutie to Phelan, and of course the Gibson homer.
But THIS is my favorite Kirk Gibson homer. And there it goes! 88 wasn't the first time Gibson hit the super clutch homer.
