This is a bad, selfish use of FR bandwidth and I will admit that up front.
However, I've searched the internet high and wide for a solution, to no avail.
If you have DISH NETWORK, you might see a screen with the floating DISH logo and the words "press SELECT to continue."
I cannot press SELECT, however, due to the fact that the dog chewed up the remote (5-7 days for a new remote to arrive).
Is there anyway I can watch TV in the meantime?
I looked on the DISH receiver itself for a SELECT button, but there is no such button.
I also rebooted the DISH receiver, but I continue to be re-routed to the screen with the floating logo.
Any tips most appreciated. Thanks very much.
You might look for a universal remote that’s pre-programmed w/ Dish codes.
We got rid of all TV inputs 4 years ago and haven’t had any problems since, plus, blood pressure readings have fallen precipitously. (Don’t support the enemy)
Go to Best Buy and get a Logitech Harmony remote and program it.
on mine there is a button on the actual dish tuner you can push and do most everything wihtout the remote.
Thanks for reply but I should have mentioned in the original post that I'm looking for a $20 and under solution. :O)
Is it located on the right-side of your receiver? How old is your receiver? Mine is from 2004 or so.
What do you call a reboot? If you haven’t unplugged it for a short time and plugged it back in, try that.
just to follow up, on the right side of the tuner there is a panel that opens when you push on it, inside is a complete set of controls like the remote.
the panel is kind of hidden, doesnt look like it will open but it does.
What receiver you got?
as you face the tuner its on the right of the front. on mine its the same panel that has the power light. but on any model there has to be some manual control panel.
Thanks for the reply, John. I should have mentioned I tried that already. Unplugged from wall for 10 minutes then re-plugged in. Still took me back to the "Press SELECT to continue" floating logo.
I'm not at home right now, so I'm not sure exactly what receiver. But it's older. Like 2004 or 2005.
Yeah, I’m not at home right now, but I remember there is something that looks like a door on the front right of the receiver, but I couldn’t get it to open. Maybe cuz it’s an old unit and never been opened before I’ll have to pry it open with something. I bet you are correct and that it’s on the front right and not on the side. Thanks again.
All dish receivers have manuel controls on it somewhere, look it over.
All dish receivers have manuel controls on it somewhere, look it over.If all else fails point the dog that ate the remote and press right paw for up and left paw down. Goose him in the but to power on!
When I had Dish my recievers would change the channels by themselves. One day my recievers watched five pay per view movies and Dish would not refund me the money. I had to change services.
Are you logged in?
I bet you lived in an apartment at the time and your receiver was baing changed by a neighbors remote. You should have asked for a supervisor to get the chrges dropped, the people answering the phone don’t have that authority, you gotta go up the ladder!
