The only thing more important to them than raw power itself is moral superiority and the intimidation she can wield as it's proprietor. The Birth Process bestows an Assumed Moral High Ground with the title of "Mother."
Prior to giving birth though, displays of her true personality carried risk of loss (what if baby dies?). After the baby's born though, hubby's tied to her F.O.R.E.V.E.R.
Doubtless he saw hints of it beforehand but dismissed it. What else do you do if she's big as a house with your kid?
Unusual that she ditched him so early on, though. Usually they wait a few years till they have at least two to torment him with. She must bore easily, and is in pursuit of fresh prey.
"Posessed?" Not at all, as the person has full control of their mind and actions. It's just that this foul spirit tempts them to torment vulnerable people and they give in EVERY time. They get a sick gratification from it.
It's an addiction really, except that their Drug of Choice is .... power. As with substance abuse, a tolorance grows, in that a repeat of the previous harassment no longer yields the same thrill. So it gradually gets worse.
Most if not all are the most brilliant manipulators you will ever see in your life, even though some are not even that smart.
Oh, and they have "radar" for the weak and/or vulnerable, another reason they usually yearn to be parents (not always though).
For convenience this spirit is labeled the "spirit of Jezebel," after the control-freak wife of King Ahab in the Old Testement, but it's neither male nor female, and manifests in both. Bottom line, if you are in this person's life you had BETTER submit or the consequences are horrific.
After a confrontation with her, God's prophet Elijah is suicidal (he is then restored, praise be to God). Fast-forward-to-today, if you are trapped under the thumb of this spirit folks often want to just die (ask me how I know....). When the flare-ups occur it feels like you're on the ground (emotionally) with a boot on your neck, barely able to breathe.
