Why are there so many on this thread denigrating Davy Jones? Most of us are recalling fond memories and experiences about him.

Even in this venue there has to be those who will trash anyone or anything.

No I meant the album.

This link gives you a list of the song credits.

okay. what confused me was when you said you had a bootleg copy of head "(vhs)". i'm familiar with 'vhs' as the acronym for 'video home system,' as in a vhs or video cassette, the format that prevailed over betamax.

i would have expected the album to be on a cd or lp. vhs sounded right for a bootleg of the movie. my mistake.

i have an original pressing of the lp, which has hardly been played (then again, as a former college oldies deejay, i have worse stuff, like the shaggs' 'philosophy of the world'). if you own it, then you likely know why i hardly played it. i didn't see the movie during its original release, but as part of a weekend festival in austin, texas of (bad) rock movies.

and you were right initially. my apologies.

before 'head' was 'headquarters.' that's the album for which dolenz wrote 'randy scouse git' (and nesmith wrote 'and you just may be the one,' a song i truly enjoy and on which glenn campbell played - but he played on everything in studio back then) - the recording sessions on which the monkees first provided a substantial part of the instruments themselves.

Quite correct, but not at his three fellow Monkees, but with management &c.

Re reunion tours, his mother invented Liquid Paper. He didn’t need the money.

as long as we are sharing dirty little secrets, i enjoy 'papa gene's blues,' written by nesmith, from the eponymous first album.

(and on a less serious note i can tolerate tork singing 'your auntie grizelda,' when i need a grin - with 'ficklebaum', or whatever they sing on the fade-out)

I noticed this afternoon they played the episode of “Brady Bunch” in which Marcia is president of his fan club and gets him to play at their prom-—and also be her date.

At the end they showed his picture and birth and death dates as sort of a tribute.

I have to say that I am surprised. Usually low-key, honorable people aren’t recognized by TPTB.

I don’t guess I know what TPTB is.

The Powers That Be. Hollywood types. I can think of few people less like them than Jones.
