I was born in the mid-1950’s. When I needed a birth certificate about ten years ago I went to the King County courthouse and got a copy. It was an electronic copy of an official document. It’s how it’s done nowadays.

However, mine made no assertions that it was a photocopy of the original. I found the original a few years ago. It has footprints and everything...
