The British went metric a generation ago so why do they stick with this “Stone” business.

I think they like to irritate Americans with it. Kind of a passive aggressive thing over the war.

The British government went metric (under orders of the EU.) The people, not so much. And it wasn't a generation ago -- it was '96 or '97.

Canada went metric in the early seventies, but Canadians I know still typically speak of their weight in pounds.
