59. Just an observation, naked carpentry is usually a bad idea.
No kidding - hitting your thumb hurts badly enough ...

60. It is. I suggest fitting it with a good ol 5-incher and testing it on city hall.

Unrelated posts?

I haven’t stuck or burnt a rod in a few years, but yes, that was all my handywork.

This guy worked on his for 25 years, and then it broke falling off a trailer on the way to Marina del Rey.

I remember it because I had trouble getting to work that morning...:^)

Travis - How did you shape the hull plates? Was there a form you placed flat sheets into? Did you purchase the sheets formed?

I get the welding - but the forming seems exceedingly difficult.

Beautiful result...

Nevermind - looks like a Bruce Roberts kit.

Very well done - I hope she brings tons of pleasure.

No kit, the only thing I used from the Bruce Roberts 434 plans were the frame shapes. Every other detail was my own. I even increased the frame spacing from 44 to 46 inches. Along with higher freeboard, a straight sheer, and a transom angle matching the 45* bow, this increased her from 44'to 48' LOA.

She's been around, from the East Coast to Guam and back.

PS: as you can see in the single-frame picture posted above, it's a "radius chine" with a 30" radius section between two "hard chine" panels.

I had 100 feet of plate rolled by the steel company and delivered. This shot shows the individual sections tacked in place.

Very impressive - You must have a tremendous sense of pride in her.

(You deserve to.)

In the grand score card of accomplishments you have, at least :

Made navy SEAL
Written several novels
Built and sailed your own boat

Pretty cool.

cubit= 18”, long cubit 21”
72’ x 12” = 864” / 18” = 48 cubits
72’ x 12” = 864” / 21” = 41.142 long cubits
Bill Cosby says”RIGHT!”.
LOL

“Tomorrow” would mean another day of fines, I’m thinking, according to the article. “Never” would be a hard way to calculate a fine, wouldn’t it?

Just thinking out loud, t.
