What is the fascination with modern Undead shows? Vampires and Zombies. I don’t get it.
I’m not knocking it. However people are entertained is up to them and the more entertained the better. It takes the heavy off life and gives joy.
But the huge number of undead shows on TV mystifies me. I don’t understand the appeal.
Is it that political correctness have left the undead as the only enemies you can have today without offending someone. I mean, Vampires and zombies don’t have any real members in life to sue studios and threaten them with boycotts.
I understand that vampire shows appeal heavily to women. Maybe the zombie shows are similar. And being a man, I just don’t get the appeal.
Simple, they are the only enemies "good guys" can smoke with wreck less abandon and without any trace of moral ambiguity.
They don't have kids, or pets, or families. They are amoral, parasitic, implacable, and neither ask nor offer, quarter.
In short, indulging ones bloodlust by destroying them is a meritorious act, by definition...very much like the appeal of Islam.
WD is a mirror reflection of our modern culture: feelings of impending doom followed by mind-blowing horror followed by emptiness. The zombies are all around us - at some point we know we'll have to defend ourselves against them. So there is just something mesmerizing about the show. I can't wait for next season!
