You have two things working against you in your hoped for conclusion to this problem:

1. A sizeable minority, possibly plurality of voters, who will be listening to the constant and extreme battering that a Mitt Candidacy for POTUS will get from Obama and his complicit media using his own left-wing record. These people either will not vote, vote for Obama, or vote third-party in large numbers.
2. Informed, principled conservatives, who have know Romney's left-wing, Progressive Liberal record and will not vote for him under any circumstances. While this is a smaller minority than those in #1 above, they are influential because they know have the evidence to back up their opinion of Romney and will work to convince as many people as possible not to vote for Romney. This group of people will either vote third-party, do a write-in, or leave the POTUS vote blank.

Romney doesn't have a chance in hell of winning.
