It's the season of long-anticipated comedy sequels! You did catch Will Ferrell's dramatic announcement of another Anchorman movie, didn't you? Now, I have even better news: Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have agreed to film a sequel to that cringeworthy classic, Dumb and Dumber.

Back in October, we heard that Sean Anders and John Morris — the comedy screenwriting duo behind "Hot Tub Time Machine" and "Mr. Popper's Penguins" --- were hard at work on a script. That was the last bit of news about the project ... at least until this weekend, when Peter Farrelly dropped a Twitter-imploding bombshell in the middle of a "Three Stooges" press junket.

“We're getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September,” the director told ComingSoon.net. “We’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.”

Farrelly may have jumped the gun a little bit — a source close to the production tells EW that the film is “moving along, but it’s not greenlit yet.” It’s hard to imagine a green light is too far away, though[.]

Shoot, even if the chances are one in a million, we just appreciate Peter Farrelly saying there’s a chance! But, um, if Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd managed to hit theaters, then surely a sequel that features the original duo will, too. It wasn’t Harry and Lloyd we loved in the first film; it was Jeff Daniels as Harry and Jim Carrey as Lloyd. And, no, I’m not ashamed to admit I loved them, even if I did try at first to dislike the movie. It’s not exactly “tasteful,” is it? But I’d rather watch Dumb and Dumber than listen to the president insult my intelligence by claiming to be a limited government guy like he did this morning …

Am I the only one who does not find Jim Carrey funny?

I think I've only seen one or two of his movies, however, I thought he was great on "In Living Color", especially as "Fire Marshal Bill."

You forgot Blazing Saddles. Today, that movie might cause a real riot.

It's not well known that Richard Pryor was one of the screenwriters.
