In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

chelonian \ki-LOH-nee-uhn\, adjective
1. Belonging or pertaining to the order Chelonia, comprising the turtles.
noun
1. A turtle.

Example sentences:
At the truly chelonian pace of somewhat under two miles per hour, the passengers and crew onboard would cover the twenty-seven hundred miles in just over two months.
-- Caleb H. Johnson, The Mayflower and Her Passengers

The study door crashed back and a seventy-year-old politician stood there, top hat firmly on his head, collar awry around his scrawny, chelonian neck.
-- M. J. Trow, Lestrade and the Sawdust Ring

What pair of messiahs could differ more harshly than Hiram and Magnus, the one a pedantic little fellow with a chelonian paunch and gold eye-glasses and the other a rough, shaggy, carnivorous revivalist from the dreadful steppes?
-- H. L. Mencken, "Editorial," American Mercury Magazine, Jan. to Apr. 1924

Etymology:
Chelonian comes from the Greek word for turtle, chelṓn.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

The Turtles - HAPPY TOGETHER?

You’d have to be chelonian to have not heard HAPPY TOGETHER by The Turtles.

As B. B. King once asked:

"Chelonia! Chelonia!

"While the entire Marshall Amplification family mourns Jim’s passing and will miss him tremendously, we all feel richer for having known him and are happy in the knowledge that he is now in a much better place which has just got a whole lot louder!"

RIP Jim Marshall.

When will the media's chelonian responses to all things related to eligibility end?
...and why does today's word trigger FR's spellcheck?

appeals to sentimentality, but a bad idea. Beatles music makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a spoon.

A+ for you since I've actually met and spoken with Mark Volmer, a very nice and talented man who is on faculty at my son's university.

This is the second time in my life that I have received a good grade by confounding my instructor with unanswerable questions. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. ;^)

Chelonian Traffic in South Florida is two-fold.

Not only is it at a slow pace, but it is often because a turtle has decided to sun himself in the middle of the road.

I saw the most gorgeous box turtle on the trail at my park yesterday. And have seen stopped traffic stopped here when a giant snapper decides to stroll across the roads. A for you.
