true, but she/they don't coordinate exactly where what gets done and when... what makes a single ant start a new chamber or tunnel and why do other ants start to help that one instead of starting their own chamber/tunnel?
There isn’t a “collective will” and probably not a collective mind. Every colony is run by a queen ant and her warrior caste enforcers.

I've accidental killed a couple of Red Ant colonies while battling Fire Ants.
*Gotta save the Red Ants for the Texas Horny Toad.
