Shriya Biman Patel, 25, was in the Travis County Jail Thursday charged with aggravated assault and arson after her 29-year-old husband was doused with gasoline and set on fire.
An Austin police statement says officers who responded to a family disturbance call Monday night at an apartment in north Austin found the naked, severely burned man on the floor.
His wife was nearby and there was a strong smell of gasoline in the air, police said.
Austin Fire Department Capt. Andy Reardon said the man was expecting his wife, who arrived in the U.S. about a week ago, to massage him with oil.
The oil turned out to be gasoline.
According to Austin media reports, the man was in the bathtub expecting the massage when he was doused with gasoline, which was ignited by candles burning nearby.
Reardon said the victim was trapped inside the bathroom and evidently had to kick the door down to escape.
The man, whose name wasnt released, was in critical condition Thursday in the burn unit of Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
“Patel = moslem?”
Indian...
Doused with gasoline??? Who the heck can afford to do that anymore??? I'd have to resort to rolled up newspapers taped to them and maybe stick a few birthday candles in the pockets..
Not just "no outrage," this is primarily seen as joke material.
It's quite a culture.
Maybe he was untrue?
Maybe he was a liar?
Maybe he couldn’t get much higher?
“try to set her knight on fire”
“and our love become a funeral pyre”
This gives new meaning to the question “do you smoke after sex?”
If this had been a husband who threw gasoline on his wife and burned her,....Not allowed to report on muzzies, ya know.
Only do this to your worst enemy. I burned my hand with gas once but it was only a momentary flash of vapor from 1-2 feet away. The pain was excruciating for several days and it took about a month before I could uncover it.
I can’t imagine covering any part of the body with gasoline and having it burn...
“The oil turned out to be gasoline. “
Well, it is, technically....right?
