I’m OK with arresting any grandmother who takes a granddaughter for an abortion.

About 8 years ago our 15 year old foster child got pregnant. We suspected something early on, but she denied it. We talked to the boy's father who talked to the boy and the truth came out. When we asked her why she denied something that would be evident soon enough she said they had an appointment for an abortion so that no one would find out. California doesn't require any parental consent. But after the truth came out, we asked her what she really wanted to do and she said she wanted to keep the baby, she was just scared, but we were supportive and since then we've adopted her and our grandson just turned 8 three weeks ago. He is a joy and I couldn't love him more.

It makes me wonder how many other scared, irrational girls make bad decisions they later regret, when if they just talked to their parents they might find out that there are alternatives and the parents are not going to disown them. I am in favor of parental notification requirements.

Well if parents are going to be held legally responsible for their kids when they break the law, then they are legally responsible for them ALL THE TIME. Nobody else can do something to their kids if they don’t want it done.
