I had plenty of time to think about Carter as I was sitting in line waiting to buy three bucks worth of gas in Seattle.

Same here. I actually had to call off work one day because I didn't have enough gas to get there, I was an odd number on an even day.

There was no excuse for any of that, and it was all because Carter thought he could micro-manage fuel distribution around the country like he tried to micro-manage time on the White House tennis courts (no joke).

The guy was the most arrogant, self centered, sanctimonious little prick we have ever had in office, and he is still an arrogant, sanctimonious little prick.

I remember back in the early 90’s when Communist Russia bit the dirt and failed in it’s last-ditched coup. A former Russian official said “God bless Ronald Reagan!”. The American reporter looked liked he swallowed a fish bone.
